Simcha Conforte
Simcha Conforte, daughter of Hefetz Conforte, was on her deathbed on 1 Adar 1752. Simcha was visited by a delegation from the rabbinic court, which determined her state of mind and then recorded how she wished for her property to be distributed. According to this document, Simcha bequeathed only one cloak and one coin to each of her daughters. In addition, she left bequests to the Jewish community, her brothers, a scribe, a ḥakham “with a fine voice,” and the teachers at the Talmud Torah. The remainder of her property was left to her father’s wife. Simcha resided in Skopje, Macedonia.
