Shulamit Kalugai

1891–1972

Israeli author Shulamit Kalugai was born in Poltava, Ukraine, and studied at the Sorbonne and at the University of Pittsburgh. She moved to Israel in 1910 and taught at the Hebrew Gymnasia in Jerusalem, and at the Reali School in Haifa. Kalugai wrote children’s literature and short stories. She was the sister of Yitzhak Ben-Zvi, the second president of Israel.
