Sara Vos
ca. 1852–1917
Not much is known about Amsterdam-born Sara Vos, who wrote cookbooks and domestic work manuals for Jewish households. She was the sister of socialist and union leader Rose (Roosje) Vos. Sara’s Oorspronkelijk Israëlitsch Kookboek (An Original Jewish Cookbook) was first published in 1893 and subsequently reprinted in many editions (the 1903 printing is the third, revised edition), most recently in 1980.
