Salim Yitshak Nissim

1877–1950

A poet from Baghdad, Salim Yitshak Nissim was a Hebrew-language teacher and writer influenced by medieval Hebrew poetic conventions and moralistic genres. One of the contributors to the Hebrew- and Arabic-language journal Yeshurun (1921), Nissim called on Jews to honor their heritage while also adapting to cultural and political life in the diaspora.
