Pearl Roseman

1920–2016

Pearl Roseman  grew up in Culver City, California, where she faced antisemitism from the other children in her neighborhood. Inspired by her grandfather, the first Sephardic rabbi in California and leader of a congregation of Turkish immigrants, Roseman published a cookbook titled Cooking the Sephardic Way, in 1971. She became involved in an Ashkenazi congregation, where she edited a second recipe book, California Kosher.
