Norman Leibovitch

Painter Norman Leibovitch was a Montreal-based artist whose work was exhibited across North America. Best known for his colorful and expressive Quebec landscapes, female nudes, and depictions of Jewish themes, Leibovitch produced more than one thousand paintings during his long career. He studied at the American Artist School and the Art Students League, both in New York, before settling in his hometown among contemporaries who included the well-known painters Louis Muhlstock, Moe Reinblatt, and Sam Borenstein. Although much of Leibovitch’s work drew inspiration from his local environment, he also traveled through Mexico and Israel, absorbing their cultural and aesthetic references as inspiration for his own art.
