Moshe Beilinson
1889–1936
The Hebrew writer and journalist Moshe Beilinson was born in Veprika, Russia, and trained as a doctor. Initially a supporter of Russian socialism, he was won over to Labor Zionism by Zalman Shazar and Berl Katznelson. He moved to Italy after World War I and in 1924 settled in Petah Tikva. He wrote many articles on the problems of labor in the Yishuv and emerged as an important spokesperson for the labor movement. In 1925, Beilinson and Katznelson founded the Labor Zionist newspaper Davar.
