Moses Samuel Konfino

Very little is known about the Romanian Jewish writer and teacher Moses Samuel Konfino. He penned what is probably the first play written in Judezmo (the spoken version of Ladino) for his students to perform in Giurgiu, Romania, at a new religious school where he taught. He may have been related to other members of the illustrious Konfino family, who are known for their patronage of Jewish books in nineteenth-century Romania.
