Moise Vita Cafsuto

ca. 1700–ca. 1760

Little is known about Moise Vita Cafsuto (Cassuto) besides the fact that he was a wealthy merchant from Florence. However, he did leave behind a detailed diary of his travels, written in Italian and addressed to his wife. The first part of Cafsuto’s account, written in 1735, tells the story of a year-and-a-half journey to Palestine between 1733 and 1735. The second part describes a westbound journey that took place between 1741 and 1743.
