Martin Jay

b. 1944

Born in New York City, Martin Jay is a scholar of European intellectual history and visual culture. He graduated from Union College and Harvard University, and is Sidney Hellman Ehrman Professor of History at the University of California at Berkeley. Jay writes for Salmagundi and is the recipient of a Guggenheim Fellowship, the Herbert Baxter Adams Award, and the Aby Warburg Foundation Science Prize.
