Marcos Ricardo Barnatán
Born in Buenos Aires to Sephardic parents with roots in Spain and Syria, Marcos Ricardo Barnatán moved to Madrid in 1965 but has traveled frequently to Argentina, France, and Israel. Barnatán’s writing ranges from scholarly essays to poetry and stories and from subjects as diverse as Nazis and Jewish culture to labyrinths and the mystical language of Kabbalah. A disciple of Jorge Luis Borges, he has written four books about the Argentine literary giant. Barnatán is married to the Spanish writer Rosa Pereda and is the father of actor, writer, and singer Jimmy Barnatán.
