M. Osherovich
1888–1949
Mendel Osherovich was born in Trostinets-Podolsk, Ukraine, and settled in New York City in 1910. There he wrote for Yiddish periodicals and joined the staff of Forverts in 1914. He worked there until his death. He was a prolific writer and translator and held leadership positions with the Federation of Ukrainian Jews, the Committee to Protect the Jews in Ukraine, and the Yiddish PEN club.
