Joshua Loth Liebman

1907–1948

Joshua Loth Liebman, a Reform rabbi, was born in Hamilton, Ohio. He later moved to nearby Cincinnati, graduating from the University of Cincinnati and Hebrew Union College (HUC), where he was ordained in 1930. He served at various rabbinic posts, in Lafayette, Indiana; Chicago; and Boston. He gained national recognition thanks to his radio sermons and the unprecedented success of his self-help manual, Peace of Mind.
