Israel Adler
1925–2009
Born in Berlin, Israel Adler was a musicologist, specializing in Eu ro pe an Jewish music from the medieval period to the eigh teenth century. Adler immigrated to Palestine as a child, and then studied in Paris. He served as director of the music department of the Jewish National and University Library of the Hebrew University of Jerusalem, and established the National Sound Archives of Israel (NSA). Adler also founded the Jewish Music Research Center and served as director of the Jewish National and University Library.
