Gershon ha-Levi of Prague

First Half of the 17th Century

There is little information regarding Gershon ben Eliezer Halevi of Prague; all we know about him comes from his own account, Gelilot erets Yisra’el (Regions of the Land of Israel), which includes a description of a journey to Palestine and the Near East, as well as stories about the ten lost tribes. Written in Yiddish and first printed in Lublin, it enjoyed great popularity and was reprinted several times.
