George Steiner

1929–2020
A cultural and literary critic, essayist, translator, and philosopher, Paris-born George Steiner became an American citizen. He later became professor of comparative literature at Geneva and Cambridge universities. His writings address issues related to translation, the nature of language and literature, and culture.
