George Barany

1922–2001

George Barany was born and raised in Hungary. In the 1940s his education was interrupted by World War II, and he spent time as a Soviet prisoner of war. Subsequently he studied at the University of Szeged, and earned his doctorate at the University of Colorado, where he remained to teach history from 1960 to 1992.
