Geoffrey H. Hartman

1929–2016

Geoffrey H. Hartman was born in Frankfurt and was sent to England during World War II. He was an American literary theorist and professor emeritus of English and comparative literature at Yale University. A poet, editor, and theorist, he was the author of numerous books and articles on midrash, William Wordsworth, and the Holocaust.
