Gedula Ogen

Gedula Ogen is an Israeli ceramicist and educator. Ogen was born in Jerusalem, where she studied at the Hebrew University and the Bezalel School of Arts and Crafts. From a young age, Ogen accompanied her father, a professional photographer, to sites of archaeological excavations. These childhood experiences influenced her ceramic practice, which draws inspiration from local traditions and relics as well as from the plants and animals of her surroundings. Ogen’s oeuvre is diverse and includes both small-scale and monumental sculptures. She was the head of the Ceramics Department at the Bezalel from 1962 to 1980.
