Esther Streit-Wurzel

1932–2013

Esther Streit-Wurzel was born in Petaḥ Tikva. She wrote for children and teenagers, often drawing upon themes from Jewish history, particularly the Holocaust and the founding of the State of Israel. In 2001, she published her autobiography. Streit-Wurzel won the Zeev Award for children’s literature in 1981 and the Prime Minister’s Prize in 1993.
