Erez Biton

b. 1942

Erez Biton is a poet, literary editor, and psychologist. Born in Algeria, he immigrated to Israel in 1948, where he was wounded by a grenade and attended schools for the blind. His first book of poems, Minḥah marokait (Moroccan Gift; 1976) had a strong influence on social and ethnic issues in Israel. He founded and is editor of Apiryon, a literary journal dedicated to Mediterranean and Middle Eastern culture.
