Doris Orgel

b. 1929

Viennese-born Doris Orgel, who immigrated to the United States in 1940 after escaping Nazism to Yugoslavia and England, has written and translated children’s books, young adult novels, and poetry. Many of her works are retellings of traditional tales. Orgel is a recipient of the 1979 Sydney Taylor Book Award.
