Boris D. Bogen

1869–1929

Boris D. Bogen was born in Moscow and graduated from the University of Moscow in 1888. He left for the United States in 1892 and worked as a school administrator for more than a decade. Beginning in 1916, he worked for the American Joint Distribution Committee, traveling to Europe under its auspices and the American Relief Administration. Bogen organized a postwar relief operation in Eastern Europe staffed by American-trained social workers. He returned to the United States in 1924. His autobiography was published a year after his death.
