Blanca Yeshurun

ca. 1635–1651

Little is known of the life of Blanca Yeshurun, widow of Daniel Yeshurun. She died, apparently childless, in Istanbul in 1651 and left an oral will in Ladino, recorded by four male witnesses. In the will, Blanca bequeathed her goods to a variety of individuals, some or possibly all of whom were her relatives. The will survived in a collection of responsa by the head of the city’s yeshiva, R. Moses Benveniste, because it was challenged by the heirs of Blanca’s late husband.
