Barbara Honigmann

b. 1949

Born in East Germany, Barbara Honigmann, now a resident of France, is a novelist, essayist, and memoirist. Formerly a theater director, she is now a writer and artist; her works often concern Jewish life in postwar Germany. Honigmann received the Koret Jewish Book Award, the Solothurn Prize for Literature, the Jeanette Schocken Prize, and the Kleist Prize.
