B. Sheyfer
An immigrant, likely from the Russian Empire, and a member of the Arbeter Ring living in Buffalo, New York, B. Sheyfer wrote a letter to the editor of Der fraynd in February 1918 arguing in favor of expanded English-language education among Yiddish immigrants. Feeling that the National Education Committee of the Arbeter Ring placed too much emphasis on Yiddish, Sheyfer reasons in the letter that education in English would promote greater Americanization in new arrivals. Der fraynd, a Yiddish paper published in New York City, was the organ of the Arbeter Ring.
