Aranka Siegal

b. 1930

Born in Czechoslovakia, Aranka Siegal survived Auschwitz and spent the postwar years in Sweden before coming to New York in 1948. The author of two autobiographical novels and a radio show host, Siegal received the 1982 Newbery Honor Book award from the American Library Association.
