Anita Shapira
b. 1940
Anita Shapira, an influential historian of labor Zionism, was born in Poland and came to Israel at ageseven. Shapira grew up in Tel Aviv. She is a professor of Jewish history, a found er of the Yitzhak Rabin Center for Israel Studies in 1996 and was head of the Institute for the Study of Zionism at Tel Aviv University in 2000. She received the Israel Prize in 2008.
