Alfred Uhry

b. 1936

Born and brought up in Atlanta, Alfred Uhry is a playwright, lyricist, and librettist who has adapted his own and others’ plays for the screen. Many of his story lines concern Jewish life in the American South. Uhry received a Pulitzer Prize in 1988 and has also received the Marton Award, the Outer Critics Circle Award, a Tony Award, and an Academy Award.
