Alain Finkielkraut

b. 1949

A philosopher and essayist, Alain Finkielkraut was born in Paris and studied philosophy at the École normale supérieure de Saint-Cloud. In the 1970s he was a leading member of the French New Philosophers. Finkielkraut teaches history of ideas in the department of humanities and social sciences at the École Polytechnique. He is a co-founder of the Institute for Levinassian Studies in Jerusalem.
