Ágnes Gergely

b. 1933

Hungarian-born, Holocaust survivor Ágnes Gergely is a poet, fiction writer, editor, and translator, as well as a teacher and a radio producer. In 1973, she participated in the University of Iowa International Writing Program. She has earned Hungarian literary awards, including the Attila József Prize, the Dery and Milan Prizes, and her country’s top literary honor, the Kossuth Prize.
